Support for Government in first poll on abortion issue

The first main opinion poll to be taken on the upcoming abortion referendum shows that the majority of Irish people are in favour of the Government’s proposed changing of the constitution.

The Ireland on Sunday newspaper carried out a poll that shows 53% of those polled would vote ‘yes’ in the referendum and another 54% agree that the issue should be put to the people.
