The Minister for Foreign Affairs has confirmed that a brother-in-law of Osama bin Laden held an Irish passport for 10 years.

Brian Cowen corrected an earlier statement to the Dail this evening, when he said Sheik Callad Bin Mahfuz and his family were given Irish citizenship in 1990.
