UNICEF supplies heading for Afghanistan
Two hundred tonnes of winter supplies and medicines are on their way to Afghanistan.
The aid charity UNICEF is making the deliveries to northern parts of the country, which are controlled by rebels.
Aid deliveries had been halted after the attacks on the US on September 11.
Worker Eric Laroche says it will be a difficult journey but one that has to be made now.
UNICEF workers have warned that the Afghan situation could end up worse than the famine which ravaged Ethiopia in the 1980s which prompted Bob Geldof to create Band Aid.
