UUP seek Dublin support for SF exclusion

An Ulster Unionist Party delegation is visiting Dublin today seeking support for its attempt to exclude Sinn Fein from the North’s power-sharing Executive.

The delegation will meet TDs from all the main political parties, following which they will give a press conference.

The five-strong delegation includes Michael McGimpsey and Sylvia Hermon. A delegation spokesman said it was important for Dublin politicians to understand the UUP’s concern over the IRA’s refusal to decommission.

He said it was ‘morally indefensible’, after the attacks on the US, for any organisation to hang onto arms or explosives.

Sinn Fein has accused unionists of being determined to destroy the Good Friday Agreement.
