EC freezes assets linked to Taliban

The European Commission has frozen more than £70m worth of assets connected to Afghanistan’s Taliban Government.

Banks in Britain, France, Germany and other EU member states have frozen an unspecified number of bank accounts following a similar move by US President George W Bush earlier this week.
