Fireworks thrown at Ardoyne parents

Loyalist protestors threw fireworks at the parents of children attending the Holy Cross girls’ primary school in north Belfast this afternoon, according to the RUC.

Police said the Catholic parents were on their way to collect their daughters from the school in Ardoyne when Protestant protestors threw the missiles.

The SDLP’s Alban McGuinness, who was at the scene, said hot tea, coffee and water was also thrown at the parents this afternoon.

He urged the RUC to police the protest more effectively before somebody is killed.
