Management at Shorts Aerospace in Belfast have advised their workers to expect up to 2,000 redundancies because of the fallout from the attacks in the United States earlier this month.

Management at Shorts Aerospace in Belfast have advised their workers to expect up to 2,000 redundancies because of the fallout from the attacks in the United States earlier this month.

Shorts’ Canadian parent company, Bombardier, is due to announce the lay-offs later this afternoon.

Shorts had just recently dragged itself out of economic difficulties and had actually been hiring new staff prior to the attacks on September 11.
