Four members of the SDLP party have so far put their names forward for the position of deputy leader of the party following the announcement of party leader, John Hume to resign and deputy leader, Seamus Mallon’s decision not to replace him.

Finance Minister, Mark Durkan is so far the only candidate running for the post of party leader, but there is strong competition amongst his colleagues to become his deputy leader.
