Mark Durkin of Derry, is now tipped as front-runner to succeed 64-year-old John Hume, after Seamus Mallon said he would not be contesting the SDLP leadership race.

Mark Durkin of Derry, is now tipped as front-runner to succeed 64-year-old John Hume, after Seamus Mallon said he would not be contesting the SDLP leadership race.

Mr Durkin, who is Minister for Finance in the north’s power sharing executing.
