Five arrested after Dublin drug seizure
Gardai in Dublin have arrested five people following one of the largest drugs seizures in Irish history.
Detectives from the National Drugs Unit and the National Surveillance Unit seized a total of 15 kilos of heroin and 100,000 ecstasy tablets after stopping a car in Lucan this morning.
Another kilo of heroin was found during a follow-up search at a house in Kilmainham.
Two people were arrested after the Lucan seizure, while a further three were detained in Kilmainham.
The three men and two women, all in their 30s, are being held under the Drug Trafficking Act. Gardai estimate the drugs seized have a street value of around £4.5m.
