A 24-year-old Latvian man appeared before Dublin District Court this morning, charged with assaulting a 21-year-old Romanian whose body was found in a suitcase in Dublin’s Royal Canal in July.
Valentines Koreluves, with an address at 100 Tritonville Road in Sandymount, was charged with assault causing harm.
Detectives told the court that Mr Koreluves was arrested on Saturday and initially gave a false name when charged.
He is the second person to be charged in connection with the death of Adrian Bestea.
Last week, 28-year-old Ukrainian Igor Derjhack was also charged with assaulting the Romanian 12 days before his body was recovered from the canal near Croke Park in Drumcondra.
