Protestants postpone Holy Cross talks with Northern Secretary

Talks between Protestant residents from Belfast’s Ardoyne and the Northern Secretary John Reid to try to end the Holy Cross standoff have been put back until Tuesday evening.

The Northern Ireland Office says some of the members of the resident’s delegation are unable to attend talks tomorrow.

Dr John Reid has already met authorities and parent representatives from the Holy Cross School.

The school reopens tomorrow morning after five days of trouble last week when Loyalist protestors hurled stones and abuse at Catholic girls making their way through the Protestant area to school.

Church leaders are appealing for calm.
