245 IT workers laid off in Dublin

Another 245 IT workers in Dublin are to lose their jobs at financial services company First-E.

In a statement, parent company Banque d’Escompte said it plans to close its Internet channel in Britain and Germany at the end of next month and concentrate on the French market.

The company will also transfer First-E’s online banking business to Germany.

The move will leave First-E with just 35 staff at its Dublin plant.
