Trawler on fire off Cork

Two naval ships are on their way to assist a fishing boat which has caught

fire off the south coast.

The Fiona Patricia, with five crew on board has launched life rafts.

The LE Ciara and LE Niamh, which were on a training exercise in the area have gone to the aid of the trawler.

The crew are being transferred to hospital in Castletownbere.

The Coast Guard helicopter from Shannon is also on scene.

The fire is reported to be extensive.
