FG slams unnecessary toll increases
Fine Gael has criticised plans to increase tolls on the West-link bridge on the M50.
From this weekend, motorists will have to pay £1 to cross the bridge and the toll will rise again in January following the introduction of the euro.
Fine Gael spokesperson Olivia Mitchell said private companies were brought in to construct and operate toll roads in the belief that they would make an investment and recoup the money over a number of years. "Why is there a need to increase the tolls?" she asked.
