Cork man charged with assault at Listowel Court

A man has appeared at Listowel District Court on charges of assault.

Ian Bailey of The Prairie, Lisacaha, Schull, Co Cork was charged with assault causing harm to his partner Catherine Jules Thomas on August 18th.

Mr Bailey was arrested at 7.15pm last night by Gardai at Cork Airport following a complaint.

He spent the night at Bandon Garda Station, and was taken to Listowel this morning.

Gardai objected to bail on the grounds that they believed Mr Bailey would flee the country if released.

Judge Terence Finn remanded him in custody to Cork prison.

He will appear in Clonakilty District Court in Cork tomorrow.
