ESB bills set to rise 8%

The electricity regulator is expected to sanction an 8% rise in ESB charges following a review of the current tariffs at the end of next month.

The move, which is designed to fund a major restructuring plan at the semi-state company, will almost certainly have a huge impact on inflation.
