Three separate marine rescues save 11 people

In Dundalk, a privately owned yacht ran aground about a mile south of Soldier’s Point.

The yacht, the Cun na Mara, was carrying six people who were all safely rescued.

In Ballycotton, Co Cork, a catamaran carrying two adults and teenagers raised the alarm after experiencing steering problems.

Meanwhile, a swimmer also got into difficulty in Ballycotton bay. An area helicopter was called but never took off, as the swimmer was safely rescued by another swimmer.
