Three separate marine rescues save 11 people
Eleven people were this evening rescued in three separate operations off the Cork and Louth coasts.
In Dundalk, a privately owned yacht ran aground about a mile south of Soldier’s Point.
The yacht, the Cun na Mara, was carrying six people who were all safely rescued.
In Ballycotton, Co Cork, a catamaran carrying two adults and teenagers raised the alarm after experiencing steering problems.
Meanwhile, a swimmer also got into difficulty in Ballycotton bay. An area helicopter was called but never took off, as the swimmer was safely rescued by another swimmer.
