670 jobs to go in Co Cork

The Irish information technology sector has suffered another series of job losses with the news this afternoon that the General Semi-Conductors plant in Macroom, Co Cork is to close.

The plant, which designs, manufactures and sells power management equipment to the electronics, telecommunications and computer industries, currently employs 670 people.
