Man in serious condition after suspected assault

Gardai in Limerick are investigating a suspected assault that left a man in his late 40s with severe head injuries.

The man was found unconscious yesterday evening in a laneway between Parnell Street and Dominic Street.

He was rushed to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

Detectives are currently trying to establish how the man sustained the injuries.
