There is speculation that the IRA will withdraw its proposed method for putting arms beyond use because of Northern Secretary John Reid's decision to suspend the Northern Assembly.

The IRA has yet to respond to today's move, but when the Assembly was put on hold in February, the organisation withdrew its representative from talks with General John de Chastelain's international decommissioning body.
