New section of M-50 to open in Dublin today

The new section of the M-50 motorway in Dublin is to be officially opened today.

The 8.7km stretch of road will extend the motorway out as far as Ballinteer.

It will make access to Dublin Airport easier for those travelling from the south of the city.

However, there are warnings of some delays at rush hour peak times, in particular at the Ballinteer interchange.

The M-50 is due to be further extended by 11 km as far as Shankill in 2004.
