A "crude device" exploded shortly after midnight by the side of a house off Rosemount Gardens between Antrim Road and Cavehill Road.

North Belfast has been the scene of growing sectarian violence in recent months, with almost nightly pipe-bomb attacks against Catholics and street riots between rival nationalist and loyalist mobs.
