Court rules election deposits are unlawful

The High Court has ruled that, in future, anyone wishing to stand in national and European elections won't have to lodge a deposit.

The court ruled that the requirement for election candidates to pay this deposit is unconstitutional and unfair in the way it discriminates against poorer citizens.
