Govt refuses to accept blame for road carnage
The Minister with responsibility for road safety, Bobby Molloy, has again blamed motorists for the Government's failure to reduce the number of deaths on Ireland's roads.
Mr Molloy said the Government will only be able to meet its target of a 20% reduction in fatalities if motorists slow down and use seat-belts.
Fianna Fail and the PDs are desperately trying to worm their way out of a scandal over road carnage after reports that the EU is planning to impose new laws in Ireland because of the Government's failure to tackle the high level of deaths.
Ireland has the second-worst road safety record in the EU and Ireland's road death-rate is twice that in Britain.
