Co Kildare pair charged with membership of illegal group

Two men from Co Kildare have been further remanded in custody with consent to bail after they were charged with being members of an illegal organisation.

The two men, 22-year-old Laurence Keane of William Street, and Stephen O'Rourke of Carberry Park - both in Athy - were granted an independent bail of £1,000 each at the Special Criminal Court.

They were asked to hand over their passports and sign in at Athy Garda Station three times a week.

Three others who were arrested in connection with the garda investigation were released without charge.
