Police chief denies Omagh warning claim

Police had no advance warning of a planned bomb attack which left 29 people dead at Omagh, Royal Ulster Constabulary Chief Constable Sir Ronnie Flanagan insisted today.

Claims that Special Branch officers ignored an informer’s tip-off were ‘‘rubbish’’, he said.
