Teen shot dead outside GAA club

An 18-year-old was shot dead in a drive by shooting outside a GAA clubhouse in Co Antrim last night.

The youth was standing with a group of people on the Hightown Road in Glengormley, Co Antrim when the attack took place shortly before midnight.

Gunmen in a dark-coloured car drove directly at the group and opened fire on the youths in what appears to be an indiscriminate attack.

When the firing ceased the 18-year-old, believed to be a Protestant, was dead and another youth, reported to be a Catholic, had been shot in the ankle and was rushed to hospital.

The RUC have mounted an investigation into the shooting outside St Enda's GAA club and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Loyalists are believed to have been responsible.
