Rape crisis network calls for funding
The National Rape Crisis Network has called for urgent funding to conduct
research into the treatment of people with learning disabilities by the
legal system.
It follows the imposition of a two-and-a-half year suspended
sentence on a 22-year old who had pleaded guilty to raping a 13-year old
with learning disabilities.
The Rape Crisis Network says the Departments of Health and Justice should make funding available for research.
