Inquiry to be held into RUC riot control tactics

The Police Ombudsman in the North has announced that she is to hold an inquiry into an incident during this week's rioting in the Ardoyne area of Belfast.

Nuala O'Loan is investigating an incident in which an RUC landrover mounted the pavement and drove at speed towards a group of children.

The incident was shown on television news bulletins.

It has also emerged that the RUC is taking legal action to gain access to unbroadcast video footage from 10 separate broadcasting operations.
