Investigation begins into DART fire

The Dart services in the Dublin area will remain restricted for the remainder of the weekend following a fire at the Fairview rail depot.

The Dart services in the Dublin area will remain restricted for the remainder of the weekend following a fire at the Fairview rail depot.

Four carriages were destroyed in the blaze, two others were badly damaged and 24 others had smoke damage.

They are worth an estimated IR£1.5m each.

An investigation is continuing to try to establish the cause of the fire and DART services in both directions are running only every half hour.
