Fianna Fail divided in Donegal
Major divisions have emerged within the Fianna Fail party in Donegal south-west.
The party’s director of elections in the constituency Brian Gallagher has accused the Minister for Sport Jim McDaid of being naïve and out of touch.
Fianna Fail commissioner Pat O’Malley has supported 700 Ballyshannon residents who plan to run an independent candidate in the next general election to prevent current plans to build a £32m by-pass through the town.
Ryan Gallager, a major Fianna Fail figure in the county, described the Ballyshannon threat as a serious worry for the party.
