Man killed in boating accident

A man has been killed off the south coast after he was thrown from the speedboat he was travelling in after the boat was struck by a freak, high wave.

The man, who has not been named but was aged in his 50s, was thrown from the boat when it hit a wave off Lawrence's Cove near Berehaven Harbour, Co Cork at about 8.30pm last evening.
