An appeal made by a prisoner for the right to vote in elections and referendums has been dismissed by the Supreme Court.

Stiofan Breathnach made the appeal during the run-up to the referendum on the Nice Treaty when he claimed that his constitutional rights were being breached because he was not allowed to vote from jail.
