Drumcree security crackdown begins
A major security operation has begun in Portadown with 600 troops taking
up positions to prevent Orangemen from walking down the nationalist Garvaghy
Road.
Once again, a huge steel and concrete barrier is being erected at Drumcree bridge.
Barbed wire and razor wire were also being used to create a no-mans land in fields adjacent to the barrier and a water-filled ditch is being widened.
Early this morning, a convoy of about 30 British army trucks came under attack from stone throwers as they moved to block the bridge.
