Taoiseach Bertie Ahern warned today of the dangers that could be generated by a political vacuum continuing in Northern Ireland.

Speaking in the Dail hours ahead of renewed talks with Prime Minister Tony Blair on the Ulster situation, Mr Ahern said fresh assembly elections were more likely now in Northern Ireland than the suspension of the executive in the absence of agreement on outstanding issues.
