Lowry payment 'got stuck with an intermediary'

The Moriarty Tribunal has been told that Denis O'Brien was going to make a payment to Michael Lowry, but that it got stuck with an intermediary.

The Moriarty Tribunal has been told that Denis O'Brien was going to make a payment to Michael Lowry, but that it got stuck with an intermediary.

Esat chairman Barry Maloney said that Mr O'Brien had told him this during a meeting in October 1997.

However, Mr Maloney said he did not know if the payment ever actually transpired.

He added that as he was heavily engaged in bringing about the flotation of the company at the time, any allegation of bribery puts him in a very difficult situation.
