Eleven people were detained by Gardai in Dundalk after disturbances in the town, in which 70 people were reported to have been involved.

Eleven people were detained by Gardai in Dundalk after disturbances in the town, in which 70 people were reported to have been involved.

The disturbances took place in the Muirhevnamor area of the town in

the early hours of the morning.

Windows were smashed and a Renault 21 car was set on fire and then used to block up Tom Bellew Avenue at 5.20am.

The fire service dealt with the incident. Objects were thrown at Gardai, and slight damage was done to a patrol van, but there were no injuries sustained.

Peace was reported to be returned to the area by 6am.
