The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Brian Cowen has moved to reassure the applicant countries, which are requesting membership of the European Union, that Ireland will not delay their accession into the EU.

Mr Cowen was speaking at a conference in Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic, which is one of the countries seeking membership.
