It has been revealed that the man shot dead at his home in Coleraine Co Derry last night had been involved in giving evidence in a case of a girl killed during a loyalist feud.

However, John Henry McCormack withdrew as a witness as he feared for his safety.

Loyalist paramilitaries are being blamed for the murder of the 25-year old. His pregnant partner and a number of their children were also in the house at the time.

It has also been confirmed that the house was the target of a pipe bomb attack just three weeks ago.
