Gerry Adams believes disputes over IRA weapons are unlikely to be resolved in time to prevent David Trimble's resignation as Northern Ireland's First Minister.

Mr Adams gave a downbeat assessment of the parties' ability to solve their problems ahead of July 1 when the resignation will come into effect.
