Brazilian police are continuing their investigation into the death of a

woman from Co Waterford whose body was discovered on a remote island resort.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death and he

is being questioned by the police, it is believed that he has already confessed

to the murder.

Julie Curran, 26, was from Dungarvan and went on holiday

alone to celebrate graduating as a pharmacist and she was due home the day

after she was killed.

It is thought that she was killed by being struck by a blow to the head

with a stone at the Ilha Grande island resort off the coast of Rio de Janeiro

and her body lay undiscovered for three days before being discovered by

local fishermen.

Local police became suspicious of the man when he attempted

to change some of Ms Curran's money and he also tried to sell some of her

belongings including a walkman.
