EU needs to become more transparent

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern has called for the institutions of the European Union to be reformed in order to make them more open and accountable to all citizens.

Mr Ahern says that European citizens are frustrated by the lack of transparency in the institutions, which has been reflected by the Irish people’s rejection of the Nice Treaty.
