EU debates Ireland's 'No' vote

A debate is underway on Ireland's rejection of the Nice Treaty at the European Parliament in Strasbourg this morning.

Extra time has been allowed for the topic, as the EU prepares for this weekend's Gothenburg summit of member state leaders.

The agenda for today's discussion has been changed considerably, with proceedings getting underway half an hour early.

European Commission president Romano Prodi is among those in attendance.
