DUP minister Gregory Campbell blasts Trimble

A hardline unionist minister in the North's Executive today insisted the British Government and David Trimble needed to acknowledge that the majority of unionists were opposed to the Good Friday Agreement.

DUP minister and East Derry MP Gregory Campbell, who pulled off one of his party's electoral upsets at the expense of the UUP, said: "I have listened to David Trimble and John Reid.

"David Trimble's remarks were unfortunately typical of a man who does not simply get it.

"In Northern Ireland today we have a unionist community which is totally and utterly disgusted at what passes for an agreement. That is the reality. That is what happened in the elections."
