Child dies in freak accident

A town in South Donegal is this morning in shock following the death of a nine-year-old girl in a freak accident.

The child was playing early yesterday in Ballyshannon when the tragedy struck.

She was crushed by the wheel in the Abbey Millwheel tourist attraction.

She was rushed to Sligo General Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

She is survived by a 12-year-old brother and her parents.
