Egypt may lift ban on Irish beef imports
Irish farmers have welcomed yesterday’s comments by the Egyptian Ambassador indicating a possible resumption of beef exports to Egypt.
Earlier in the week, the Egyptian Government had announced its intention to uphold its ban on all EU food imports until October at the earliest.
However, the Egyptian Ambassador to Ireland, Mr Ashraf Rashed, suggested yesterday that he believed that his Government might consider Ireland separately from the rest of Europe, opening the way for a resumption of trade with one of our largest foreign markets.
