Further body blow for Mayo plant
127 staff at a Mayo computer plant have been put on short-time work.
A three-day week has been implemented at the Volex plant in Castlebar.
Volex is an international British-owned company which manufactures computer cable assembly systems.
The three-day week is the second body blow in a month at the Castlebar plant.
Last month, 150 workers, mostly temporary, were let go at the factory which is one of the biggest employers in Mayo.
The three-day week has been implemented by factory management following consultations with trade unions.
Management at Volex says thee three day week is a temporary situation and will be reviewed at the end of next month.
The company is implementing cutbacks at some of its plants worldwide.
