Amnesty backs independent Abbeylara inquiry

Amnesty International is reiterating its call for an independent public inquiry into the John Carthy shooting.

The organisation has published its annual report today, to coincide with Amnesty International's 40th anniversary.

It outlines human rights violations in 149 countries.

The Director of the Irish section of Amnesty, Sean Love, has said that an independent police complaints procedure is necessary in Ireland.
