Meningitis cases plummet

There has been a huge reduction in the number of cases of meningitis following the introduction of the National Immunisation Programme.

Figures just released show a 57% drop in reported cases since the introduction of the vaccine 18 months ago.

The first phase of the immunisation programme targeted young children and teenagers.
